The Uvac Canyon
Special nature reserve “Uvac“ is a protected natural resource of great significance, natural resource of the First category. It is situated in southwest Serbia, within Starovlaska-Raska highlands, wedged between Zlatar mountain in the southwest and Javor mountain in the northeast. Special Nature Reserve Uvac is located on the territory of Nova Varos municipality with the area of 5525 acres and on the territory of Sjenica municipality with the area of 2018 acres , which is 7543 acres overall.
Minimal elevation of the reserve is 7222 meters, and maximum 1322 meters.
The central morphological unit of the reserve is the river Uvac Canyon valley, with its tributaries. Wedged meanders represent the special value of the canyon.
Meander capes reach even up to 100 metres height.
